RankingHero’s Website Development

case study

Problem

“LinkedIn for poker players.”
The database was there, but the social platform was missing – there was no community. The challenge was a combination of things, building trust and creating a community, we had to also find a way to position the brand, target the right audience, and increase the visibility and market presence of our product. To be able to keep up with industry standards we had to focus on elevating the platform and all its features. This effort is meant to ensure the seamless alignment between user requirements, marketing strategies, and product development initiatives.

Solution & Impact

NIHITO – nothing important happens it the office. We had to go out there and analyze the competition, what they are doing, what’s bringing success and where’s their weak spots. And we had to do it fast. Based on the analysis, we shaped the vision of our product, as well as the key persona which was semi-professional players.
Capturing those, I had my first product management experience. It was called “Clubs”. The effort to create the Clubs page was minimal as it actually took a template from a venue page and just added 2 more fields that allow customization for semi-professional clubs. To understand this, you need to know that semi-professional players, who mostly play outside venues, do not have profiles or rankings in the official poker world. This is what we have offered them – a page dedicated to each club where they can keep a live poker database that reflects their games and promotes competition within the club. At the second phase, they could now have their badge next to their name and participate in topics, and discussions amongst themselves – to enhance this feature even further, we connected the semi-pros with the professional players on our platform. This was revolutionary. Shoulder to shoulder we created the core community that stayed with RankingHero until the end, and elevated the whole product. The results made our competitors do the same.

My Role

  • User Research
  • User Experience
  • Visual Design
My task was to develop a solution for the optimal placement of the RankingHero brand. This solution had to be in line with the brand identity, mission and growth strategies. With this complex niche product, I was able to take initiatives that not only increased the visibility and trust of the brand, but also aligned extremely well with RankingHero’s core objectives. I was also responsible for many of the marketing campaigns (from start to finish). My role was strictly tied to KPIs that would measure the success of all marketing efforts and the corresponding return of investment (ROI). This was the product that made me realize that my passion lies in product management.

"Ina was a proactive and valuable member of our team. The projects she created and developed were a great success that brought a lot of new active members to our community. Her motivation to answer every need of our users and customers insured the success of our projects. Even in the team, Ina has always been a driving force. Among other things, she created a "Friday evening office game" that really made the members of our team closer together."

Georgi Valyukov – Marketing Manager, RankingHero

"I worked alongside Ina for more than a year. During that time we executed on different social media projects together. Ina was always very enthusiastic and creative about those, thinking outside of the box. When something urgent had to be done, she was the heart of the group, ready to put whatever work it needed to succeed."
